Footage has emerged of the huge fire which ripped through the historic Clandon Park House mansion - a listed building in Surrey, UK - on Wednesday.

The fire in the 1720s building is reported to have started in the basement before quickly spreading to the roof and burning until the next day. It remains under investigation with fears of further structural collapse.

The filmer later wrote online: "When I first arrived at the scene, I could see a lot of smoke coming out of the mansion and a few flames coming out of the top where the roof had been. By the time I left a couple of hours later, the flames were at ground level and clearly the interior was beyond salvage.

"As I left I heard a loud bang, like a rocket, as the final set of sash windows were blown out. It was just so incredibly sad to see such a majestic building being engulfed by flames."
