Former fire house burns
Former fire house burns Just before 5pm Shamokin and surrounding departments were alerted to a commercial building fire at the former Liberty Fire Company, now Fire House Winery.
Police and fire chief arrived to the former bay door open with heavy smoke pushing from the building. Within seconds Shamokin Chief Pilkus reported a flash over with now heavy fire showing from the front of the structure.
A second alarm was sounded along with a request for additional RIT teams bringing units from as far as Snyder and Montour counties to help fight the blaze.
Schuylkill County sent several units as well to transfer and provide coverage while crews worked the scene.
The state police fire marshal is investigating and as of this time no cause of the fire had been found. This fire is considered suspicious at this time.
