Ghislane Maxwell trial gets underway in New York
The trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, British publishing heiress and daughter of late media mogul Robert Maxwell starts today (November 29) in New York City.
The 59-year-old stands accused of helping convicted sexual offender Jeffery Epstein, groom young girls.
Ghislaine has been in custody since being arrested in New Hampshire on July 3, 2020.
The trial is set to last six weeks and no cameras will be allowed in the courtroom.
Victims Rights attorney, Lisa Bloom, who represents eight Epstein victims and one Maxwell accuser, spoke outside the court.
"They are all too scared to come in person, and I am here monitoring the case on their behalf," she said.
