On Monday December 2021, Lower Augusta Volunteer Fire Department set off to provide disaster relief to areas hit by the December 10, 2021 tornadoes
Crews began the trek down with 13 towable trailers and 2 tractor trailers which were all packed full of food, clothes, cleaning supplies and Christmas toys for the areas that were devastated.
Lower Augusta crews were joined by firefighters from Sacramento Fire Company in Schuylkill county and personnel from County Turf and Trail.
Once crews arrived in the hard hit area they separated and delivered supplies all over the area as they were needed. While Sacramento and Country Turf and Trail crews headed back to the area on Wednesday, Lower Augusta crew headed back into the damaged areas to help with clean up and lend a hand where needed.
They spent most of the day in the Dawson Springs area helping clean up and haul away debris. Once done there they headed into Mayfield to drop off some supply hose for firefighters who entire station was demolished.

Pennsylvania fire departments asked and received the public’s help in collecting supplies for tornado victims in Kentucky.
The supplies started to be delivered on Tuedsay December 21st when the caravan lead by the Lower Augusta Fire Company and the Goodwill Hose Fire Company of Northumberland County, Pa arrived in Kentucky after a 900 mile 18 hour drive.
Items included presents for the children who lost everything and cried when they were presented with Christmas gifts. The caravan included toys for the children, blankets, coats, cleaning supplies, toiletries, nonperishable food items pet supplies and paper products.

Augusta Fire Chief Mark Minnier said “Watching the news and videos and seeing all this destruction I said to myself we have to do something so I reached out to people and we all agreed we needed to do something,” “We are also asking any fire departments who have any used equipment that they could donate to please do so. We can take it down to them,” he said.
Minnier confirmed the following donated trailers to be filled with items for the victims. Ryan Boyer, owner of Country Turf & Trail, just outside of Sunbury, Geisinger Medical Center.
It is expected that it will take years to rebuild as most of the town was totally devastated including the loss of a water town that supplied drinking water to the area.
