A soldier in the US military surprised his family this Christmas after saying that he wouldn't be able to return for the holidays.

Touching footage captured on December 19 shows Manuel Zuniga sneaking up on his mother and sister at a restaurant in San Antonio in Texas and their shocked reacion.

"I told my family that I wouldn’t be able to come home for the holidays because of the new COVID strain but little did they know what I had in mind," Zuniga said.

"I came into town and surprised them, and this was how they reacted," he added.

'Surprise reunions are always a treat to watch, and this heartwarming video is no different either.

Filmed in San Antonio, Texas, this footage shows Manuel Zuniga returning from duty to surprise his family.

Manuel can be seen sneaking up behind the ladies and then sitting next to them, catching them off-guard and making them emotional.
