This beautiful road near Lake Biwa in Japan is often described as the country's most beautiful.

The stunning thoroughfare in the Makino plateau is lined on both sides by hundreds of metasequoia trees for 2.4 kilometres.

The spot is popular with tourists who find no visit it quite the same as the colours shift with the seasons.

The road is known simply as “Metasequoia Tree-Lined Road."
