This charitable taxi driver captured his heartwarming gesture when dropping off a family at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital by refusing to take the payment for the fare.

On October 28th, Lee McQueen accepted a fare for a family-of-three heading to Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, but cab drivers have an unwritten rule about taking people to that destination.

When Lee arrived and it was time to pay the fare, he refused to accept any money and instead suggested on spending that money of buying the little boy a toy.

Not much is known to Lee about the boy's condition or health issues, but he sensed the parent's worry and stress which he believed was a result of these hospital visits.

The small but thoughtful gesture was met with great appreciation and gratefulness from the parents as Lee drove off with tears welling up.

Lee said: "Its just a black cab tradition to not charge people who are taking their children to Great Ormond Street.

"The parents were completely overwhelmed, anyone who has to take their children to this hospital are generally going their because it is very serious and I can’t imagine what it must feel like to be under that amount of stress, worry and pressure.

"By doing these journeys for free, even though it’s only a small act of kindness, it can really make a big difference in peoples lives.

"This time and every other time I do this I feel really emotional even when I’m thinking about what I’m about to say and do on the way there I have to hold myself together and sometimes struggle to get my words out, I feel it’s the right thing to do."
