Palestinian protesters clash with Israeli troops in Beit Dajan village
RESTRICTION SUMMARY: Nablus, 28 January 2022. Palestinian protesters clash with Israeli troops in Beit Dajan village, following a demonstration against settlements.
STORYLINE:
A medic was among dozens of Palestinians today shot by a rubber bullet or suffered suffocation from tear gas inhalation in clashes with Israeli soldiers in Beit Dajan village in the Nablus district, and in the city of Hebron, in the West Bank.
Medical sources said a physician volunteering with the Red Crescent was shot in the shoulder by a rubber-coated metal bullet while attending to Palestinians injured in clashes with Israeli soldiers in Beit Dajan, according to Ahmad Jibril, director of the ambulance service with the Red Crescent in Nablus.
He said 13 other people were treated for rubber bullet wounds while several others were treated for tear gas inhalation.
The glass of an ambulance was also shattered when soldiers shot rubber bullets directly at it, said Jibril.
In Hebron in the south of the West Bank, Palestinians clashed with Israeli soldiers in the city center.
The soldiers manning a checkpoint at the entrance to Shuhada Street fired rubber bullets and tear gas canisters at stone-throwing Palestinians causing dozens of suffocation cases. They were treated on the spot.
Clashes with Israeli soldiers were also reported at Jabal Sabih in the village of Beita, south of Nablus, as well as Kufr Qaddoum, near Qalqilya city where four people, including a reporter and a child, were injured from rubber bullets fired by soldiers. Dozens also suffered suffocation from tear gas inhalation in both areas.
