In a country used to extreme winter weather, Russian rail passengers have to deal with slightly different travel issues than those in other places.

One of them, as this video shot on 2 February shows, is snowdrifts on stations platforms so deep that passengers practically disappear into them as they step down from the train.

The situation appears to bring more pleasure than pain though, as the passengers delightedly leap into the cushion of show.

But despite the powerful snowfalls hitting the Kuban region in southern Russia, where this video was filmed, the electric trains still ran on schedule.

Workers cleaned the rails every minute but did not have time to remove the snow from the platform, hence the scenes in this footage.
