Courchevel is known as one of France's flashiest ski resorts, where the world's jet set comes to see and be seen, but one VIP took it to the next level on Saturday night (5 February).

A customer, believed to be a member of Ukraine's jet set, ordered dozens, possibly as many as 50, bottles of Dom Perignon champagne, each of which had a lit firework attached, presented on huge trays with great fanfare.

A bottle of the celebrated bubbly usually sells for about 400 euros (457 US dollars) each at such venues.

The scene was filmed in one of the resort's most celebrated clubs.
