26-year-old Elise Harmon bought Chanel's first ever advent calendar for Christmas 2021, but was surprised that it did not deliver.

Ms Harmon who is from Delaware, purchased the calendar in-store for $825 and did an unboxing on TikTok. The series of videos has been viewed over 60 million times and many users are angry about the fashion-retailer's budget contents.

After being told it was limited edition in store, she felt 'initially excited' at the surprise gifts when she bought the famed calendar.

She said: "I assumed because it was Chanel it would live up to my expectations of the brand, which I now see was a foolish assumption.

"I was shocked to find stickers and plastic toys inside but was hopeful it was just an unlucky pick. Inside there were a few practical items that I love, but for $825 I was disappointed about the number of items that were reused and recycled freebies from their past promotional events."

"This experience definitely opened my eyes to the flaws in the luxury industry and that a logo on an item doesn’t always assure it’s value."

Later Ms Harmon received an advent calendar from brand Jo Malone that got the thumbs up from her.
