Protesters tear down statue of 'Gassy Jack' in Vancouver
Protesters tore down the statute of John Deighton, known as Gassy Jack, in Vancouver's Gastown neighbourhood on February 14.
The incident took place during an annual march for missing and murdered Indigenous women.
Critics have said Gassy Jack is a symbol of oppression against Indigenous people, noting he was 40 years old when he married a 12-year-old girl from the Squamish First Nation.
