A rally was held in Kyiv on Friday 18 February, to mark the eighth anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity, that was a turning point in Ukraine's relations with Europe and Russia.

People gathered for the rally chanted "Heros don't die", eight years after the massacre of protesters in and around Maidan Square in the centre of Kyiv.

The Maidan Revolution, as it is also known, was violently suppressed before it toppled the government, which had sparked the protests by turning away from the EU and towards Moscow.

The so-called 'Heaven's Hundred' that were killed in the protests were also mourned at the Mykhailivskyy Church in Kyiv on Friday.
