Several protesters gathered outside of Nestle's Nespresso shop on New York's Upper East Side to demand an end to the world’s largest food company operation in Russia.

Organizer Pierre Hugot said that because the Swiss group continues to sell in Russia they are directly responsible for the war in Ukraine.

They wrote large Zs on the sidewalk at each entrance to the store. About a dozen protesters stood outside holding signs and flags and informing passersby and customers of Nestle's involvement in the war.

At one point officers from the 19th precinct arrived to tell the group that, while they're allowed to protest, they cannot write in chalk the giant letter "Z" with arrows pointing to Nespresso.

One officer said they'd received a 911 call from a worker in the store who was concerned about that Zs on the ground.

On March 23, Nestle said it would “suspend the vast majority of our prewar volume in Russia.”
