Irpin man who traveled 60 kilometers by bike to carry fuel for bakery shows hope and destruction in his city
This is the story of Alexy Watchman, a local in Irpin, Ukraine who bravely traverses over 60 kilometers per day to take 20 liters of diesel fuel to a bakery so locals can have something to eat, seen here exclusively on April 4.
"I came under fire many times, and a mine exploded not far away once. I worry about a bullet hitting the canister. but I did so we can eat and feed the wounded too," Watchman said in an on-camera interview.
Irpin, only a few kilometers from capital Kyiv, has been reduced to rubble from Russian strikes. Most of the 70,000 people who used to live in this commuter city fled over the past month.
"The main thing is we stayed alive, despite the fact that we were under shelling, we got it, we won - our faith and faith helped us do our job!" Watchman said.
