Leni Robredo supporters do K-pop dance under scorching sun at election rally for Philippine president hopeful
Supporters of Philippine vice president and presidential candidate Leni Robredo did K-pop dances under the scorching sun at an election rally.
Video shows the K-pop fans holding a 'random play dance' hours before the rally program started in Tarlac City, the Philippines on March 23. They grooved along to hits such as 'Savage' by Korean girl group aespa, and 'Kill This Love' by global K-pop sensation BLACKPINK.
During a random play dance, a series of K-pop song choruses is blasted out in public and those who know the steps are invited to dance along.
Robredo arrived in the evening and shared her plans for the vote-rich province as she addressed the crowd of roughly 50,000 people. There are around 898,000 registered voters in Tarlac, the Philippine Commission on Elections said.
Robredo is vying for the presidency of the Philippines, and has chosen the colour pink to brand her campaign. She is competing against nine other candidates, including controversial election poll frontrunner Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the son and namesake of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
A probe by news agency AFP said that ‘false and misleading claims have flooded Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and Twitter in the lead-up to the May 9 polls, pounding Filipinos with a relentless barrage of propaganda on platforms’ in support of Ferdinand Marcos Junior, who uses the nickname ‘Bongbong’.
The Philippines will be holding its national elections on May 9 this year.
