This is the moment the New York subway shooting suspect is lead away from police station.

Frank James, 62, was arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday (13/4) and has now been charged with federal terrorism charges and is due to be arraigned.

He is suspected of shooting ten commuters in a rush hour attack at the Sunset Park subway station in Brooklyn on Tuesday morning.

He was spotted leaving the 9th Precinct on East 5 St later that afternoon, being lead by officers into a police vehicle.

He said nothing as a gaggle of reporters questioned him about the attack.

A witness, who lives near the police station, said: "I was shocked to learn that Frank had come further into the city rather than try to get as far away as possible from Brooklyn where the shooting occurred.

"I was unnerved that he had been so close to where I live when he was caught.

"I was happy he got caught and glad he’s in custody although I’m still on high alert in public in NYC these days as crime has definitely spiked and we are all feeling the impact.

"My hope is that we can find better ways to help those who are mentally ill or incapable of being a constructive member of society. "
