This is the terrifying moment two snakes invaded a family's bathroom in Costa Rica.

Can Somyur said he was about to use the toilet when he spotted the long snake, believed to be a mildly venomous Mexican Parrot Snake, slithering in the toilet bowl of his family home in Costa Rica on July 19.

It was seen crawling around the toilet seat before hiding behind the tank. Another snake was then seen sliding into an opening in Somyur's bathtub.

He said: 'I am not sure if it's poisonous or not, and I've noticed they start coming out when it rains.'

The snake was then captured by local authorities who took it back to their office for release.
