Animal welfare activists protest against ‘FrankenChickens’ outside Morrisons supermarket in London

Animal welfare activists staged a protest outside Morrisons in Camden on Saturday, calling on the supermarket chain to stop selling ‘FrankenChickens’, chickens that are bred to grow a lot faster than naturally.

The footage filmed on April 30 shows several activists outside the supermarket, holding up posters with slogans and images of injured chickens.

According to the protesters, the fact that the chickens grow unnaturally fast, leads to painful deformities and other suffering in the birds. The chickens are allegedly also kept in severely cramped and cruel conditions in their thousands inside factory farms, causing yet more unnecessary suffering.
