Tension gripped the Baran city on Thursday after the traders community and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers observed bandh to protest against the as sault by youths on two traders on Wednesday night.

Traders and BJP workers were protesting against the increasing criminal incidents in Baran on Thursday. Dur ing the bandh call, they stage dharna on the road. During the protest, some agitating people tried to enter a market, but police tried to stop them, but they did not relent and started re moving the barricades.

On this, the police and the crowd came face-to face and the po lice lathi-charged them to control the situation. The situation became tense after the lathi charge and extra force was deployed.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Kalyan Mal Meena himself patrolled the streets. Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC) and additional police forces were called from Kota and Jhalawar district. Many Police officials including Additional SP, Deputy SP, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Divanshu Sharma are manning the intersections of the city.
