This fascinating video shows Chang Qian extracting pearls from an oyster.
The filmer can be seen using some type of blade (after opening the shell) to retrieve the pearls, one at a time.
"This oyster came from our own farm, and we cultured it by ourselves," Chang said. "We recorded this video just to show everyone how we get pearls."
It's been said that removing pearls from the oyster's mouth helps them rather than hurting them, since holding these gemstones for long could be a painful experience for the shelled creature.
