Soldiers performed an awesome synchronised patrol dance next to a warship to commemorate the death anniversary of a respected historical figure in Thailand.

The Royal Thai Naval Academy showed off their routine to amazed audiences near Sairee Beach in Chumphon province on May 19.

With impressive precision and coordination, they executed their performance, twirling flags and bowing like dominoes in time with the music to pay tribute to Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak, or Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse, who is known as 'The Father of the Thai Navy'.

Onlooker Surapong Kanha said: 'It's not every day you see a performance like this. They are all very talented.'

Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse is credited for the advancement and modernisation of the Thai Navy. He is said to have studied naval warfare in England and applied his learnings to advance the country's military until his death in 1923.
