The Taipei 101, a skyscraper in Taiwan, was lit up with messages paying tribute on Friday, July 8, to the late former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe after he was shot dead while campaigning in Nara, Japan.

The display showed the messages in Chinese as "Mourning Prime Minister Abe," "Taiwan's forever friend," "Thanks for Prime Minister Abe's support and friendship to Taiwan," and "Thank you" in Japanese with the national flags of Japan and Taiwan.
