Fighter performs a martial art that is immune to sharp weapons and eats sharp objects (neon lights) or debus art at a cultural arts performance held at Bumi Ageung Batutulis, South Bogor District, Bogor City, West Java, Indonesia, on Saturday (30/7/ 2022).
Debus is a martial art of the Sundanese people of Banten in Banten Province. Debus art today is a combination of dance and sound. This art shows human abilities that are immune to sharp weapons, hard water, and others. Debus art that is often performed includes stabbing the stomach with a spear or other sharp weapon without getting hurt, slicing parts of the body with a knife or machete. At present, debus as a martial art is widely displayed for cultural events or traditional ceremonies.
This event was held to celebrate the Islamic new year 1 Muharram 1444 Hijriah which falls on July 30. Kandaga Urang Sunda as the organizer held cultural arts performances by collaborating religious elements with cultural arts performances. The shows that are served are reog and jaipong, calung, debus, pencak silat, hadroh marawis to qosidah.
