A tribute work of art to Queen Elizabeth in inner-city Sydney has been vandalised days after its unveiling.

Artist Stuart Sale, originally from the UK, told the Sydney Morning Herald at the time of the unveiling of the portrait of the young queen on a wall on Sydenham Road in Marrickville: "I wanted to paint a beautiful picture of the Queen and give it away to the people.”

However, a Newsflare filmer on Monday (September 12) captured anti-royal graffiti next to the Queen's image, reading: “Na na na na na na na Lizzie’s in a BOX!!”

Sale has previously created portraits of pop stars David Bowie, Amy Winehouse and Geri Halliwell.
