Volunteers from Louisiana came out to Lynch Street Church in Jackson, Mississippi to pass out bottled water, and cleaning supplies that were donated from people across Mississippi and Louisiana on Saturday (September 17).

The line was already around the block by 9 a.m., with the volunteers including a message to the city complete with singing and dancing.

This was Jackson's final water distribution site within the city after weeks of no water throughout the city. State contractors have been working round the clock to make repairs to the O.B. Curtis treatment plant with the Department of Health lifting the boil water notice earlier this week after two days of testing samples all over the city.

Residents still do not trust the repair and are wondering when the next boil water notice will go into effect.

The state's governor has also stated the city of Jackson will never operate the failed plant again and is currently taking bids from companies to step in and take control of the treatment plant.
