A young online gamer found an unlikely streaming partner - his 82-year-old grandmother.

Chitaworn Namsatien, 22, said he encouraged his elderly relative Praphit Muangkhu, 82, to try a video game after she told him off for staying up late in Pathum Thani province.

However, the youngster was surprised when the strong-willed lady seemed to love the thrill of the action game ‘Valorant' and excelled at the competitive virtual gun battles.

Praphit now joins her grandson as his 'game caster' streaming partner commentating on the action in the large online groups.

Footage shows gaming partners Chitaworn and Praphit having a great time firing bullets and throwing knives at enemies during an online role-playing game session.

Chitaworn, 22, said: ‘One night I was streaming a game, but then my grandma knocked on the door and said: be quiet! if you keep on playing, I will kill you!

'So I thought to myself that tomorrow I will make her play with me.

'The next day, while she was playing, her voice was much louder than mine.'

Chitaworn began streaming his fun games with his grandmother, which attracted many curious viewers.

He added: ‘Fanclubs commented that my grandma was so cute, so strong, and so proud, and she was glad to hear all of that and to see that the videos she was on had been shared.

'She loves that feeling very much.'

Learning the basics of handling a computer was difficult at first, but the grandmother said she was eager to learn.

After two months of training, she grew more lively and her replies to questions were faster and more accurate. The family believed it was with the help of the game.

The proud gamer said it also strengthened their bond as they could share the hobby.

He said: ‘Before my grandma came to play with me, I studied alone, worked hard. Games have helped us to connect. We became closer than before.

'When my grandma and I play together, we share a good feeling which makes us happy.'

Grandmother Praphit, 82, said it feels great to hit a target.

She said: ‘One night, my grandchild called me to his room, and I thought he wanted me to spin the online lottery wheel like we always do. But it turns out he wanted me to play games with him.'

'I can't remember the name of any of the games. I just enjoy everything that makes me feel excited.

'It feels great when I can hit a target. It's as if I've accomplished something. A game like this keeps a senior like me from feeling lonely.'
