Scene of 'low-speed collision' at King's Cross

Footage from King's Cross Station in London, UK on Thursday afternoon after a train collided with buffers at the end of a platform, apparently on its way in to the station, injuring five.

The video shows emergency services and train crews at Platform 11 of the station with rail staff.

National Rail described the incident as a "low-speed collision", adding that some were seen for "minor injuries" after emergency services attended the scene. The Ambulance Service said 4 were taken to hospital.

British Transport Police also attended, with the filmer writing online: "police cars went racing over the pavement."

The London Ambulance Service said in a statement: "We were called at 12:28 PM to an incident involving a train at King's Cross Station.

"We sent two ambulance crews, an incident officer and an advanced paramedic to the scene and arrived within 8 minutes.

"We treated 5 patients at the scene and of those 5 we took 4 to University College Hospital."

ADDS: Statement from Govia Thameslink Railway:

At 12.18 today, the 10.55 Cambridge to London King’s Cross Great Northern service hit the buffer stops as it pulled into platform 11 at King’s Cross.
Four people required attention on the scene by paramedics for minor injuries. Two were taken to hospital as a precaution. The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has been notified.
Great Northern’s Passenger Service Director Keith Jipps said:
“We are working with paramedics to help those who were injured and apologise to those affected by the incident. We will cooperate fully with any investigation.”
