This is the dramatic and heroic footage showing how a Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas cruise ship headed to the Bahamas from Cozumel saved 22 people from a stranded and broken down boat in danger of sinking in the middle of the ocean near Cuba on Thursday, December 15.

The geographical coordinates of the rescue -- 23.53713° N, 82.68846° W -- shared by the filmer indicate the incident took place near Havana.

After the 22 passengers, including one child, were rescued, the captain of the Royal Caribbean shared a message and update over the intercom with vacationers saying the people who were rescued were rushed for immediate medical attention. The message was also captured on video.

Royal Caribbean contacted the United States Coast Guard around the incident, and they were advised to rescue and bring the passengers aboard the Symphony of the Seas.

The health status of the passengers is not known at this time.

Filmer Seth Gold, who is from Raleigh, North Carolina and on vacation, captured the incident on video.

Gold told Newsflare: "We spotted a broken down, sinking vessel in the middle of the ocean and rescued the passengers. This video is of the boat rescue. They were waving frantically for help, and we actually turned around to check on them and that's when we noticed what happened. They were lucky we saw them."
