Sydney Festival: Sydney Town Hall transformed into Sandy beachscape for Opera, Australia
Making its Australian premiere on Friday 6 January, the award-winning Sun & Sea will be staged in Sydney Town Hall and transformed to become a beachscape, complete with sand, sunbathers and holidaymakers. A sellout at the 2019 Venice Biennale where it was awarded the Golden Lion, Sun & Sea is a durational English-language opera work in-the-round that confronts themes of climate emergency with humour and power. Sun & Sea is written and created by Lithuanian artists Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė, Vaiva Grainytė, and Lina Lapelytė.
