Footage has emerged from Hong Kong of people gathering to mark the anniversary of the Umbrella Revolution, which hit the city last year.

The footage, captured on Monday, shows people gathering in some of the same places protesters occupied in 2014, made famous around the world by the way they used umbrellas to hold off police lines.

According to local media, more than four thousand police officers were on the ground to maintain order.

In order to commemorate last year's political protest in Hong Kong, namely Occupy Central, Umbrella Revolution, or Umbrella Movement, this year, people gathering on the ground and asking for their political democracy.

Footage has emerged from Hong Kong of lots of people gathering and commemorating their efforts in last year.

The footage, captured on Monday in Hong Kong, shows people backing to the place where they started protest last year, holding yellow umbrellas, with their huge banner written 'we need real general election'.

According to local media, over four thousands police officers were on the ground to maintain orders.
