Officials in Thailand have recommended working from home and wearing respirator masks outside as air pollution levels worsen across the country.

Residents in 23 provinces have been advised on January 25 to wear masks and limit outdoor activity.

In Chiang Mai, a northern province, the Air Quality Index has exceeded 160, rated as unhealthy, in the last 48 hours. The World Health Organisation rates an index of 50 as acceptable.
