From French Garage to Iconic Landmark, the Five-star Rex Hotel in Saigon
Originally a French garage, then a trading centre, the building was used by the Americans during the second Indochina War. The ground floor was named 'The Abraham Lincoln Library.
During the war, the Americans held daily press conferences which became known as 'the five o'clock follies' as journalists were skeptical about the information.
Now it's a luxury hotel.
