Glacier Run 3.10.2015 Iceland
Glacier run of Vatnajökull. Every few years the sub-glacial lake, heated by vulcanic activity drownes. This results in a tremendous stream of water rushing down to the sea. This happend in the last days. The fundaments of the Eldvatn bridge (video) were damaged and the bridge was closed some minutes after this video was taken.
Tourists were advised to keep far from the rivers not only because of the water masses but also because of toxic gases H2S and SO2 which can be set free with this event..
