Taking off from the Historic RAF Cardington Hangars it was a broad-hulled airship with auxiliary wing and tail surfaces, it flew using both aerostatic and aerodynamic lift. Powered by four diesel-engine driven ducted propellers, it was the largest aircraft flying at that time. Within the next hour this aircraft had crash landed at the base station, causing some damage to the cockpit.
After repairs and some alterations the modified aircraft completed design certification testing before being written off when it came loose from its moorings in high winds at Cardington on 18 November 2017.
