Chinese startup develops 140k USD flying cars to soar over traffic jams
A Chinese startup is developing flying cars to soar over the country's notorious traffic jams.
XPeng Aeroht, which touts itself as the largest flying car company in Asia, is an affiliate of Chinese EV manufacturer XPeng Motors and has been designing prototypes of flying electric cars meant to ease traffic chaos.
Incredible footage shows pilots taking the XPeng X2 model out for test drives over lakes and empty roads in China.
The two-seater model equipped with four engines and eight propellers is envisioned to allow for low-altitude flights suitable for short-distance trips and for various uses such as tourism and medical transportation.
It was first displayed and flown at an exhibit in Dubai last year.
XPeng founder He Xiapoeng said the vehicles may begin mass production in 2025.
Meanwhile, XPeng Aeroht founder Zhao Deli estimated the price tag to be at around 1 million yuan or around 146,000 USD.
