Tesco security accused of racial assault after allegedly wrongly accusing man of theft
A man in his late 30s was allegedly subjected to a racial assault at Tesco Finchley Central in London, after he was wrongly accused of theft. According to the filmer, the incident started when a Tesco employee suspected the man of stealing and alerted security. As the man tried to leave the store, security stopped him, leading to a heated argument. Suddenly, the security guard and the Tesco employee allegedly attacked the man, forcibly restraining him on the floor and attempting to take his bag.
Eyewitnesses report that the Tesco employee put his knee on the man's stomach, until he noticed someone filming the incident on their iPhone 13 Pro Max in HDR. Both parties called the police, who reviewed CCTV footage and allegedly found that the man had not taken anything from the store. The filmer claims that the incident was a case of racial profiling, as the Tesco employees allegedly accused the man of theft solely because of his skin color.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday (March 7) at approximately 9 p.m. and it remains unclear whether the victim has pressed charges. Tesco has not commented on the incident at this time
