Thieves allegedly steal $2 million in brazen jewellery heist
Thieves in disguises allegedly stole $2million in jewelry — before they were caught at a luxury hotel.
A man and women were picked up at the Grand Beach Hotel on Sunday and charged with the heist at Dubai Jewelry Store, Nashville, Tennessee.
CCTV shows a couple browsing a jewellery story before stealing gold and jewels on October 23.
A man jumps over the counter armed with what appears to be mace and bundles the shop assistant away before a man and a woman steal almost $2million dollars worth of jewellery into bags.
Orlando Valdes-Hernandez, 34, and Milleni Garcia, 38, were arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, in a luxury hotel, on October 27.
According to reports, Valdes-Hernandez pulled a pistol on two staff members in the adjacent room of the store and told them to get on the ground and not move.
As he held the victims at gunpoint, Garcia and the other man stole jewelry and gold from the display cases.
Valdes-Hernandez is accused of helping himself to additional jewelry in the store before they all fled.
Valdes-Hernandez has been charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping for holding the employees against their will, aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and felony theft.
Garcia is named in warrants charging her with two counts of facilitating aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and felony theft.
Miami Beach police Chief Wayne Jones in a statement said: "I commend my detectives and partners at the Metro Nashville Police Department for their hard work and resolve in bringing these violent offenders to justice." "
Both Garcia and Hernandez now await extradition to Nashville.
The third accomplice is believed to be still at large.
