Incredibly intense-looking anvil clouds form in Northern Ireland

Incredibly intense-looking anvil clouds were seen forming across the skies of Northern Ireland on March 29.

The filmer shared his account with Newsflare, which took place near Shore Road on the Ballyronan Marina:

"This was the largest well sheared storm anvils that I have ever seen in March. This was filmed after a day of thunderstorms in a highly sheared environment. These kind of set-ups could produce supercell-type storms like in the United States. In fact, there was a risk of tornadoes today in Ireland."

This the most solid and most strongly sheared anvil on any storm cell Ive ever seen in N. Ireland during the month of March. This was a day of thunderstorms in a highly sheared environment with 40 knots deep layer shear and strong low level shear, these kind of set-ups can produce supercell type storms like in the USA, in fact, there was a risk of tornadoes today in Ireland. This is the anvil of one such cell over Lough Neagh filmed from Ballyronan Marina with DSLR and 15mm super wide lens
