The subject of the video told Newsflare: "After gathering a bit of Kina/Sea Urchin -- we call it Kina in New Zealand -- I decided to take a video doing a Pukana but with a Kina roe, as it’s by far one of the biggest I’ve ever seen. I decided to post it on TikTok as my cousin and partner thought it would pop off. This video was taken in the Deep South of the South Island of New Zealand in a small fishing town called Bluff, which is also known as the bottom of New Zealand.

"What made me try eating it? Well over here, sea urchin is a delicacy to us. I absolutely love it. The taste is salty but sweet with a soft creamy texture.

"I started diving around the age of 14 - I'm 23 now -- and it’s a massive passion I have whenever the weather is right and I'm hungry for a feed of kaimoana (seafood). I love being by the ocean, or in it, and hope to work on the water one day."

so I started diving around the age of 14 (23)now and it’s a massive passion I have when ever the weather right and hungry for a feed of kaimoana (seafood). Love being beside the ocean or in it and hope to work on the water one day what made me try eating it ? Well over here sea urchin is a delicacy to us Māori and few other cultures the kina/sea urchin range from all sorts of different shapes and sizes mainly eating the roe on the inside, ah what made me eat it I absolutely love it the taste is salty but sweet with a soft creamy texture
