A woman and her best friend have revealed their new dating technique in a bid to make the process more fun: triple dates.

When Beth Thomas found herself single once again after coming out of a five-year-long relationship, she was nervous about getting back on the dating market.

She moved out of their home together shortly after the split and moved into a flat, where she started the hunt for a flatmate and came across Molly Cookson.

Both single, the new best friends, aged 30 and 26, set their sights on getting themselves back into the dating scene but quickly realised that not everyone was as genuine as they seemed.

Now, they're sharing the trials and tribulations of dating in your 20s and 30s on TikTok (@2_girls_1_pup), hoping to bring humour to those facing similar situations – with one clip racking up 257,800 views and over 22,000 likes.

"I quickly realised that guys who I thought liked me, actually just wanted one thing, and then didn't want to see me again," Beth, a content and campaigns manager from London, told NeedToKnow.co.uk.

"[At first], I kept thinking what everyone was moaning about, as dating was actually fine.

"But then, there were quite a few incidents where I believed that everyone was as open and honest as I was, which I kept falling for."

Molly, a public relations and communications manager, believes looking at dating with humour, and an open mind is key.

She said: "Sometimes it's OK to be like: 'Ah, everything is so difficult' so it's best to look at the funniness in that."

In a bid to switch up their attitudes, and hopefully score their perfect man, the pair came up with the idea of organising double dates through the dating app, Hinge.

Beth recalls matching with an Australian man living in London, who said he had two friends who were interested in going on a triple date.

Eagerly, both Beth and Molly accepted the offer and had one of their close friends, Lowri, 29, join them.

But, as all six people's schedules clashed, there was a five-week wait before the date was popped into their diaries.

To keep the affair interesting, they decided on a unique method, where they were only allowed to chat with one another on Wednesdays.

Molly said: "I think someone in the group questioned how we were going to keep the conversation going for that long and then someone came up with the idea of only talking one day.

"At least then we didn't exhaust conversation, I suppose.

"I think that rule only lasted a week, as we then started talking again, so it went out of the window."

In the clip, screenshots are shared of the group chat's messages, as the pair explain how they had all met on Hinge.

Then, they're shown cleaning up the flat before getting ready for the date.

As the guys arrive, drinks and crisps flow while drinking games are played.

All six of the cohort can be seen in an escape room, with Molly and Beth's friend, Lowri, ending up having too much to drink and needing to be escorted home.

As the clip comes to an end, Molly can be seen leaving, as Beth continues on with the date as planned.

Users flocked to the comments to share their reactions, with many asking for an update on the unique date.

One person wrote: “This is so cute! Cheers for getting your friend home safe.”

Another user said: “Omg this is amazing.” [sic]

“Ok but did it go well enough for it all to happen again?? This seems like so much fun!!” someone else commented.

“CONGRATS MR AND MRS BEN,” added Morgan.

“I'm so invested...we need another update!” said Shanice.

“Absolutely love this!” said another user.

“Loved this, the twists and turns, the fashion, the mega house clean, and FRANK!” wrote someone else.

While the date didn't end with Cupid making an appearance, both girls are happy with their experience and plan on meeting up with one of the guys again.

Beth added: "I'm still in touch with the guy who we organised it with, so we're still seeing each other.

"Overall, one out of three isn't too bad.

"Having been in a relationship for so long, I didn't know what to expect when signing up for dating sites.

"I want our content to be relatable for people who try to navigate through this confusing time in their lives.

"We just wanted to make dating more fun and thought this was a good way to do it."
