Barcelona players and coaches forced to flee pitch as violent Espanyol fans attack after La Liga title win
This video shows Barcelona players and coaching staff being chased off a football pitch by violent fans of the opposing team.
Barcelona played at Espanyol in the Reial Club Deportiu Espanyol (RCDE) Stadium. After winning the game 4-2 to clinch the La Liga title, the newly crowned champions could not celebrate and had to flee.
Hundreds of Espanyol fans invaded the pitch trying to harm the Barcelona players and coaches. The Barcelona players and coaches run down the tunnel to the locker room for their safety.
The filmer said: "Big rivalry. They were upset because were celebrating La Liga there. Fans considered it a provocation.
"It was scary, weird, and bizarre. Luckily no one was hurt."
Objects can be seen flying onto the pitch from the direction of the stands. Numerous stewards run onto the pitch to try and stop the invaders; they tackle a man with his bare chest out to the ground and restrain him.
