Controversial statue outside BBC attacked by masked protester before peacefully coming down
A masked protester attacked a statue outside of the BBC Broadcasting House in London today (May 20th).
The statue titled 'Prospero and Ariel' was erected in 1932 but drew controversy after it was discovered that its creator Eric Gill had sexually abused his two daughters.
The protester, believed to be David Chick, wore a Spiderman mask while using chisel and tools to deface the statue, as well as hanging up signs criticising prominent celebrity paedophiles.
After some time Chick voluntarily came down to waiting police.
The statue was previously attacked by Chick in January 2022.
