In a recent development, the proposed bill, referred to as PL 490/2007, aims to reduce the authority of the ministries responsible for environmental protection and the demarcation of Indigenous lands, thus undermining their ability to oversee these crucial areas.
With a vote of 283 in favor and 155 against, the bill has successfully passed the initial stage. However, it is important to note that it still awaits further approval from both the Senate and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
