People still go to the beach in a heatwave, even if there is no sun! This was the view at Porthmeor beach in St Ives, Cornwall this morning as the news outlets all forecast a nation-wide hot spell. The south west tip of the UK is surrounded by sea on three sides and so fog is a regular phenomenon when temperatures start to soar. Historically, fog and mist was much awaited by smugglers and pirates who land their illicit contraband unseen by the Customs & Excise men, but not quite so useful for the holiday makers of today who are searching for a suntan
