'We thought it was a dog,' says woman after spotting bear swimming along Florida beach
Beachgoers in Destin, Florida, were shocked after they spotted a bear swimming up to the shore on June 11.
Marlee Breland filmed as the mammal paddled towards the beach just metres away from locals enjoying the waves.
She told Newsflare: "We were sitting on the beach in Destin and saw something large in the water floating at a distance. At first, we thought it was a dog or a deer, but as it came closer we realized it was a bear!
"The bear swam to shore and then ran up the beach into the dunes at a nearby condominium! I have been coming to Destin for 30 years and have never seen a black bear swim up to the beach!"
The black bear made onto the beach before running past sunbathers towards some nearby dunes.
