Volkswagen ID4 collides crashes into toll booth killing four in China
One of the first fully electric SUVs from Volkswagen, the ID4, crashed into a toll booth killing four people in China.
The Hangzhou highway police released a report on the fatal car accident that happened on June 5.
The small passenger vehicle crashed into the toll booth facility along the S2 Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway while exiting the Hangzhou toll station at around 5:43 am.
The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire, resulting in the death of all four passengers.
The vehicle involved in the accident was a new electric vehicle and had not been on the highway for long before the incident occurred.
Local news media reported that it was a Volkswagen ID4 car.
Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle did not slow down before colliding with the toll booth facility.
The authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
