STORYLINE:

The Turkish National Intelligence Organization has killed Yilmaz Behraresh, a senior terrorist leader who was in the red category on Türkiye's wanted terrorists' list, according to state media TRT on Saturday.

Yilmaz Behraresh was also known as Osman Nuri Ocakli while he was a member of the MLKP terror group. He was appointed as the so-called Syria Officer of the MLKP in 2019.

Ocakli was killed in north Syria's Ayn al-Arab region, reported TRT quoting security sources. But it did not say when the terrorist leader was killed.

Ocakli was behind many attacks in Türkiye, including the 2022 attack on a vehicle carrying the prison guards in north Türkiye's Bursa province.

The Turkish intelligence followed Ocakli for a long time and pinpointed his location through the agents in the field who were not aware of each other, TRT said.

The MLKP was founded in 1994 and was added to Türkiye's active terror group list in 2007.
