Lights shake in Bangkok building following quake in neighbouring Myanmar

A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck Myanmar on Monday, with the tremors rattling neighbouring Thailand.

Lights in homes and offices in the capital Bangkok shook when the quake hit near the south coast of Myanmar on June 19.

The United States Geological Survey said the earthquake struck at a depth of 4.5 kilometres at 1:40 UTC.

The Thai Meteorological Agency said pegged the earthquake at a 6.0 magnitude at 8:40 am local time. It said the tremors were felt in Bangkok and Nonthaburi province.

There were no immediate reports of major damage or casualties.
