STORYLINE:

Twenty-two local girls aged between eight and 11 kicked off a special football match at the foot of Mount Cook in New Zealand's remote southern highlands on Tuesday to mark the one-month countdown to the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
   
The two teams were named Pukaki and Tekapo after the pristine alpine lakes nearby at Mackenzie Plains.
 
The match was officiated by current referee and New Zealand Football National Referee Development Manager, Lindsey Robinson.
     
New Zealand national team members Katie Bowen and Emma Rolston were also on site at the match, teaching skills and drills to the youngsters.
